When someone dies, the emotional weight can feel overwhelming. For many families, this is made even harder by concerns about money and paying for a funeral is a big worry.
We want to gently reassure you: you are not alone, and there is help available.
Firstly, It’s Okay to Ask
One of the biggest barriers we see is fear — fear of cost, fear of asking, fear of the unknown.
Speaking to your local Funeral Director is always free.You can ask questions, explore options, and take your time, no obligation and no pressure.

What Help Is Available?
Government Support
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) may provide a Funeral Expenses Payment.
It's Means tested
Covers certain costs

They may also be able to guide you on other support available.
Money from the Estate
Many people don’t realise:
Funeral costs can often be paid from the deceased’s bank account
Insurance or pensions may also help to cover the cost and can sometimes be paid directly to the funeral director.
Simple, Dignified Options
There are always respectful options available to suit different budgets, including direct cremation and our new Personal Farewell Gathering if you want a service without the formalities.

Public Health Funerals
If no funds are proven to be available, the local council may be able to arrange a funeral for your loved one with restrictions.
No choice of date/time
Simple service - possibly lead by the funeral director
Ashes are generally not returned
